Una delle domande principali che ci si dovrebbe porre al momento di cominciare una mano di texas hold’em poker è quale tipo di carte giocare e quali, invece, passare con un fold. Oltre a famose divagazioni e tabelle sull’argomento, come la più famosa tabella di Sklanssky, c’è anche una regola matematica al riguardo.
Sostanzialmente, moltiplicando i valori (di seguito illustrati ) relativi alle carte in mano si potrá facilmente capire, in funzione della posizione al tavolo, quali carte giocare e quali abbandonare nel texas hold’em poker. Prima di entrare nel dettaglio dei calcoli matematici, è opportuno rimarcare la definizione della posizione al tavolo di gioco del poker texano. La foto qui sotto la illustra egregiamente:
Quindi, le posizioni da tenere a mente sono fondamentalmente tre: early, middle e late position. La early position comprende lo small blind o piccolo buio, big blind o grande buio e la posizione denominata con UTG ovvero ‘under the gun’, sotto la pistola, il primo che deve fiatare. La middle position son le successive 3 o 4 posizioni, mentre la late position, quella migliore, comprende il dealer o bottone e i due giocatori successivi a lui.
Come fare il calcolo delle carte:
Tornando a noi, ovvero alla domanda iniziale; quali carte devo giocare nel poker alla texana? Fate questo calcolo:
- Sommate il valore delle carte che avete in mano. Ogni carta vale il suo valore (un 3 vale un 3 punti), tranne il 10 vale 11 punti, il J vale 12, la Q 13, il K 14 e l’Asso 16 punti. (avete in mano 10-Q totalizzate 22 punti, per ora).
- Aggiungete 10 punti se le carte sono una coppia
- Aggiungete 4 punti se le carte sono ‘suited’, ovvero dello stesso seme (giocabil in ottica colore)
- Aggiungete 3 punti se le carte sono connected (connesse, como 10-9 o Q-J)
- Aggiungete 2 punti se le carte sono connected ma con una carta nel mezzo (10-8 Q-10)
- Aggiungete 1 punto se le carte sono connected ma con due carte nel mezzo (10-7 Q-9)
Ora, se la somma delle nostre carte fa 30 punti o di più, possiamo giocarle da qualsiasi posizione al tavolo di texas hold’em poker.
Se le carte realizzano 27 o più punti, potete giocarle solo dalle middle position, mentre se la somma delle carte non supera o eguaglia il 25 punti si posson giocare solo dalle posizioni di late position.
Ad esempio se abbiamo in mano K-9s abbiamo in totale 14+9+4 (son suited) 27 punti e possiamo giocarle da una posizione di middle o late position. Direi che è un metodo molto semplice per decidere se giocare o meno un paio di carte. Se volete giocare in modo più sicuro perché magari non avete ben ancora familiarizzato con l’importanza della posizione al tavolo di gioco giocate solo carte che totalizzano 30 punti o più, giocherete vincendo sui tavoli di poker alla texana.
